Premium CCNA G1 Associate Level Essential Voice Skills Lab
This Essential Voice Skills Lab is a great starter kit to learn your CCNA Associate Level Voice Skills and/or the first part of CCNA Collaboration. This Cisco router and switch will give you the hands-on experience to prepare for the core elements of VOIP, but also the real-world experience to land a job setting up and maintaining a Voice infrastructure! You can even double this lab up and use it to study for your CCNA at the same time. So, there are multiple labs in one!
This kit matches up very well to the Cisco Press book that is used in the Cisco Press CCNA Voice Lab Workbook (Only currently available as an ebook directly from Cisco Press - the print versions are out of print now) by Brent Sieling so you can perform the same labs they would teach you if you went to an official Cisco class! We also offer our own CertificationKits ebook that serves as a more streamlined and simplified guideline for learning about voice technology.
For the routers, we include two 2811 256/128 routers. These are the cheapest, reliable voice routers available. The voice hardware for these is also the most budget friendly option. So, there make a great solution for breaking into this.
From a switch perspective we include two 3750v2-24PS PoE (Power over Ethernet) switches to power your IP Phones. These are true fully dynamic, layer 3 switches that will not only power your IP Phones, but also work great for your other certifications like CCNA, etc.
We also include two 7960G IP Phones and we pre-install the necessary voice cards/modules, PVDM2, etc.
We want to make a note here that voice labs can lean towards the middle to upper level. So, learning voice skills can be a little bit of a bumpy road for the pure beginner. So, we highly recommend that if you do not have any experience with networking that you work on those core skills and spend some time getting familiar with Cisco IOS first. Luckily, this lab can also be used for CCNA 200-301 v1.1 and it even comes with our complete CCNA Training Package included. Voice labs are geared towards ambitious candidates that are willing to do an extra level of tinkering. The CertificationKits CCNA Voice eWorkbook work as a great guideline and will help you along your journey, but everything in voice isn't a perfect solution. So, you may need to put in extra effort, spend extra time Googling, etc. We don't want to dissuade anyone, but we like to be straight shooters and honest... Voice can be a bit of a "bear". However, if you're willing to put in the work, you can absolutely learn some very highly sought after skills here and gain some extremely useful knowledge.
As a new exciting opportunity and added bonus, Cisco has very recently added two new entry level certifications for networking and cybersecurity. So, while you are working on your CCNA, associate level certification, you can also use your lab to learn the material for one of the new Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) certifications! This would also be an excellent place for High Schools to source material for a networking or security foundations class. We have worked in partnership with Cisco NetAcad instructors and CCIEs to release our kits that are ready for the CCNA 200-301 v1.1 exam. This time around, Cisco has released a couple topology options covering their minimum hardware topology/hardware requirements and their recommended requirements and the optimal learning experience. To satisfy the minimum requirement, Cisco is requiring two routers and two switches. However, our recommendation still is and will always be to run a three router and three switch lab. This is also the topology we write our lab workbook for because we know this is going to best prepare you for the CCNA and real-world applications! If you don’t want to go with a three router and three switch setup, don’t worry, you can still do all the labs by scaling back a two router and two switch kit in our CCNA Base Lab Kit Section. Cisco does have a small wireless component that will be part of the new exam, but this is simply a generic wireless router that you likely already have at home. We do however have an add-on option in this kit to add a Cisco Access Point and the labs to support it in our lab workbook if you want to go on a deeper dive into wireless.

The Access Server is purely a convenience tool and not a requirement for your exam. While these are common device types in data centers everywhere and a great thing to have knowledge of, they are not a requirement to pass your exam. However, if you don't want to physically move a cable every time you change devices, have an interest in remote access possibilities, or want to broaden you knowledge, an access server is a great device to have in your kit! All of our 2509 and 2511 access servers sold with kits also now come with the transceiver add-on so you can get the device on the LAN, perform upgrades/recovery and explore remote access capability. The new Access Server Conversion Kits options are composed of a 2811 256/64 router and HWIC-16A module. There are two options. One with (1) 8 connection octal and one with (2) 8 connection octals (16 connections).

The CCNA Voice Lab eWorkbook is our associate level ebook that will give you guidelines and labs to work through where you will learn core VOIP skills. These are the building blocks as you move forward in your voice journey.
The Optional Wireless Access Point Option comes with an 1142 Wireless AP and the power brick for the unit. Once again, you do not need this to get through the wireless component of the 200-301 v1.1 exam. However, this is a pretty cheap add-on that will give you an opportunity to expand your knowledge past the exam. There is nothing wrong with being a little over-prepared!
The Supplemental CCNA Training DVD is about 22+ hours of extra CCNA level training in a video format. Do you need this to pass your exam? Absolutely not because all the training your need is already included with your kit! This DVD does cover a lot of legacy material and is not entirely up to date, however it still has a great deal of very useful knowledge that every engineer should know and will run into on the job. We used to sell this DVD for a few hundred dollars but have priced it super affordably for those who want to widen the scope of their curriculum. There is still a lot of overlap here with the current exam, so you will get a lot of topics covered that are on there, just not every topic.
The FTDI Console Cable Upgrade swaps out the classic console cable for this new solution to complete your console connection. This is our newest option for your console connection. This cable has the new FTDI chip installed and eliminates the need for both the classic console connection and the USB-Serial Adapter! It goes directly from USB to RJ-45! Another great bonus to this, from our testing, is that it has a near perfect success rate in the break sequence working! (used to reset the router, password recovery, etc). This is a big bonus because the converters can be a bit of a pain in that department. All around, this is an excellent addition to any techs tool box! *If you do not have a 9-Pin serial port on your computer (most modern computers do not) or a USB-to-Serial converter, you will need this to complete your console (management) connection. We highly recommend this.
The AIM-Cue add-on options are the modules for voicemail services. We wouldn't call this an absolute necessity. This is a good tech to learn and be familiar with, but it if you skip this, it will not stop you from tackling the very vast majority of what is essential.
You can see our Rack options in the slide carousel images above. We strive to create as much of a modular solution as possible. So, you can simply choose no rack and just stack your units on a desktop. If you already have a rack you can just purchase the rack mount kits for the devices so you can attach them. Then lastly, we have three rack options that you can see in the slides. All racks come bundled with the rack mounts when purchased with a kit!
-The Rack Mounts Only option is for people who already have a rack or want to purchase a rack separately from the lab kits with us. These are the brackets you will need to attach to your devices so they can be bolted to a rack.
The below "Rack and Rack Mount Kits" options will include all of the rack mounts to attach your devices to your rack.
-The Basic Rack is the simplest option. This is a more organizational solution versus the heavier duty deluxe rack options. This works great as a simple desktop rack on smaller labs where you don't plan on adding an incredible amount of weight.
-The 12U Mini Deluxe This is a customer favorite rack option and a sturdier option for your lab over the Basic Rack. For most CCNA and Cisco labs, you are only using 6U of space in your rack, so the 12U Mini Deluxe will give you plenty of space with expansion options for a budget friendly price. If you plan on adding larger units, PDU, shelves, etc. then the 12U mini provides a couple extra slots
-16U Deluxe - This is the full heavy-duty option! This rack is a professional grade rack that comes with wheels and extra room for expansion. This rack is also nice because it stands taller than the other racks, bringing the equipment higher to chair level if placed on the ground.
